What is Jack's Urban Meeting Place in downtown Boise?

Some people came with specific questions about parking and the project's timetable and others were just plain confused. JUMP, or Jack's Urban Meeting Place, multi-million dollar project that is a couple of years in the making.

Officials say completion of the project is getting closer and more people are asking what the building will become. Jake Leber, KBOI 2News reporter, asked a few residents about the project.

"Do you know what the jump center is?" Leber asked.

"No, I don't," said Sylvia Meuler of Boise.

"I thought they were building a convention center for tractors," said Blake Brintnaal, also of Boise.

Designers of the center say it will act like a community "grab bag." It will be part-convention center, part-park, and part-art studio. There will also be a kitchen for culinary classes, a dance studio and a five-story slide.

JUMP is being funded by the J.R. Simplot family. There was confusion why the designers hosted a community open house this afternoon.

"I came here, I didn't know," Brintnaal said. "I heard some rumors and I just wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth."

The open house seemed successful, because local feedback from the meeting was very positive. However, some people who spoke with KBOI 2News wished they would have known details about the project sooner.

"I'm actually interested in finding out more it, but I think it will be something that Boise would probably really love," Meuler said.

"I really feel that it's going to be a great thing for the community and I'm excited to see the completion date," Brintnaal said.

The completion date has not been set but designers say it should be finished before the Spring 2016.
