A St. Alphonsus physical therapy building in Boise is closed Monday after an early morning fire.

Authorities say the fire started in a heating unit on the roof and spread through some insulation of the St. Alphonsus building on Parkcenter Boulevard.

Someone spotted smoke coming from the roof and called dispatch around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning. A battalion chief on scene says the early action played a role in quick control and if it wasn't caught, it could have been worse.

"Had somebody not driven by and seen this fire, 15-20 minutes could have made a lot of difference in how much damage was done to the building and how long they will be out of service," said Boise Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rasulo.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
