COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) - The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says a 57-year-old northern Idaho man has apparently drowned in Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Sheriff Ben Wolfinger says Gary Scott Shawver of Post Falls jumped into the lake Saturday to retrieve an item that had fallen from a boat.

Wolfinger says Shawver didn't have on a life jacket and couldn't get back to the boat.

The Sheriff's Dive Rescue Team couldn't locate Shawver in the water that's about 130 feet deep.

Wolfinger in a statement on Sunday says another attempt will be made using sonar when the weather in the area clears.
