People are taking advantage of the snow falling in the mountains across Idaho.

Up at Bogus Basin, a spokesperson said the resort got six inches of snow over the last 24 hours.

"So far the season is off to a great start. We were able to open early on Thanksgiving on 100 percent man-made snow," said Nate Shake, director of mountain operations at Bogus Basin.

Shake says at the beginning of the season, the resort didn't get much snow.

"Pickings were a little slim and thankfully we've gotten some good snowstorms in the past few days and we were able to open more terrain," Shake said.

Currently, the resort is running three chair lifts.

"Yesterday was the first day we opened another chairlift and we saw a lot of people on Sunday come up and enjoy the new snow," Shake said.

The mountain was full of people excited about the fresh snow.

"We love it out here and it's been super fun today so far," said Kenneth Atwood, a local.

Another local says he is hoping Bogus Basin has a good season this year.

"Yeah it's snowing right now and we are super excited for it to get more snow on the mountain so we can have a good season this year," said Dylan Boer.

Elsewhere around the state, BrundageMountain Resort opens full-time operations on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Also on Tuesday, Dec. 13, Tamarack Express is opening for the season. The resort has received three feet of snow in the past week.

At Soldier Mountain, the Magic Carpet and Mini-Terrain Park are open as well.

Sun Valley is also open.
