Local venue shooting suspect gets $500,000 bond, no contact order with victim
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — It all happened in a matter of minutes on Sunday night outside The Shredder music venue in downtown Boise.
Without any hesitation, Darin Wall went from being the bass player of Seattle’s Greyhawk heavy metal band to being a hero who stopped a belligerent gunman from hurting innocent people at The Shredder music venue in Boise.
Wall was shot by 26 year old Ethan Byrd and is recovering in Seattle tonight.
He says this event is not an accurate reflection of the music scene in Boise and even plans to play at The Shredder next time they are in town.
Wall's GoFundMe quickly raised over their $10,000 goal, pledging to give any remaining funds to the gun violence survivors foundation.
Meanwhile, the gunman Ethan Byrd was charged with aggravated battery and using a weapon under the influence—both felonies.
He was also charged with a misdemeanor for carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence.
In court today, Prosecutor Brett Judd told a judge that police found a .22 handgun and a 9-millimeter handgun with a drum magazine containing 29 rounds plus two additional loaded magazines on the suspect after the shooting.
Judd added that the defendant is not known to the victim or anyone involved.
Byrd's bond was set at $500,000, and he has a no-contact order with Wall.
His preliminary hearing is set for September 15, 2021.
