I will learn from this Damar Hamlin apologizes for his BLASPHEMOUS Super Bowl jacket follo
The Buffalo Bills DB Damar Hamlin, who is recovering from a cardiac arrest, came under massive scrutiny for seemingly mocking Jesus Christ during his appearance at the Super Bowl. Following the massive backlash, the defensive back has now apologized for his actions and says he will learn from this incident. The 24-year-old safety wore a custom-made costume with an abstract image of Jesus Christ on the front and a separate image of the crucifix on the back of his jacket.
The young safety suffered a cardiac arrest during a week 17 Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was resuscitated on the field by Bills’ medical staff and was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further treatment. Furthermore, he spent a lot of days in the hospital before he could be discharged to recover from home.
And now, Hamlin, who is still recovering from the surgery made an appearance at the Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and the Eagles to honor the medical personnel at the UC Medical Center, who saved his life. However, his custom-made jacket with an abstract deception of Jesus Christ angered many people who started thrashing Hamlin for mocking Christian ideologies.
Even the former Minnesota Vikings legendary running back Adrian Peterson bashed Hamlin for his insensitive jacket. “You should be thanking God, son! This is Blasphemy!! We all fall short but cmon man! I find this disrespectful!!,” wrote Peterson on Instagram.
Bills DB Damar Hamlin apologizes for offending people
Amidst all the controversy over his jacket, the Bills DB Damar Hamlin has addressed the issue via social media and clarified the blasphemous custom-made jacket he wore during his appearance at the Super Bowl.
“After talking with my parents I understand how my coat could have offended some people. It was never my intentions to hurt or disrespect anyone, the coat is abstract art to me. It says Eternal which I am Eternally thankful to my Savior!” tweeted Hamlin. “My beliefs and Relationship with God is not tied to symbolic images. I will learn from this and continue to walk in Love as I ALWAYS have. Matthew 7:1-5”.
The Jacket, which costs around 3000 US dollars was designed by the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for Damar Hamlin. Although the image of Jesus might’ve been unconventional, it certainly wouldn’t have come from any ill intent, since Hamlin himself is a devoted Christian and has praised God on several occasions.
