Where to Find Brood Commanders?
While Brood Commanders can theoretically appear on any Terminid-controlled planet with bug missions, even at the Trivial difficulty level, you’ll have the best luck finding these oversized bugs by taking on “Eliminate Brood Commander” operations. These specialized missions, marked by a distinct symbol on the galactic map, are designed to pit you against multiple Commanders at once.
Of course, if grinding out personal orders to take down a set number of Brood Commanders is more your speed, you can try your luck on any hive-infested war zone. Just don’t expect these apex bugs to come looking for you — you’ll need to plunge deep into their nesting grounds and get up close and personal with the creepy crawlies.
How to Kill Brood Commanders?
Make no mistake, taking down a Brood Commander is no cakewalk, even for the most grizzled Helldivers. These things are absolute tanks, with heavy armor plating covering their grotesque bodies. Flimsy pop-guns and peashooters aren’t going to cut it — you’ll want to bring some serious anti-armor firepower to kill them.
Sluggers, Liberators with penetrator rounds, high-powered rail guns — pretty much anything that can punch through thick chitin is what you need. Of course, with the Commander’s endless swarm of smaller bugs to contend with, covering fire from support weapons and offensive stratagems is an absolute must. Sentries, Airstrikes, Hellfire Missiles, Orbital Precision Strike — call in everything you’ve got to thin the herd while you focus on drilling that overgrown termite’s armored hide.
And for democracy’s sake, don’t forget to aim for those weak points! While its head and torso are heavily plated, a Brood Commander’s limbs and rear sections are more vulnerable. With enough concentrated fire, you can blow those spindly legs right off before going in for the killing headshot. Just watch out for that berserker frenzy if you crack its skull plate — these uglies don’t go down without a proper fight.
